Cerca is designed with your safety in mind. Here's everything you need to know about keeping your account secure, your data protected, and your in-person meetups safe.
Protecting your account
Use a strong, unique password
Don't reuse passwords from other sites. Cerca uses Supabase's industry-standard auth, but you're always the first line of defense.
Verify your email address
Cerca sends important booking confirmations and security alerts to your email. Keep your email address current.
Suspicious activity?
If you notice login activity you don't recognize, email security@app-cerca.com immediately. We can invalidate all active sessions.
Your data & privacy
Cerca collects only what's needed to run the platform. Here's what we store and why:
Name & email
Account identification, booking confirmations
Profile photo (optional)
Displayed on your public profile
Location (city/area)
Shown on your provider profile for search
Payment info
Processed by Stripe. Cerca never sees your full card number
Messages
Stored for safety monitoring and dispute resolution; never sold to third parties
Booking history
Used for reviews, analytics, and support
Full details in our Privacy Policy. You can request deletion of your account and data from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is scheduled 30 days out so you can cancel if you change your mind.
Safe messaging
All messages on Cerca are kept inside the app's built-in chat. Not via personal phone numbers or email. Here's why that matters:
Your personal contact info is never required to be shared in a booking
Messages are monitored for scams, harassment, and requests to take payment outside the app
If a provider or customer asks you to pay or communicate outside Cerca, that's a red flag. Report it
Staying safe in person
Cerca is a services marketplace. Most bookings involve meeting in person. Here are our safety recommendations:
Meet for the first time in a public or semi-public location when possible
Tell a trusted person where you're going and who you're meeting
For home services, consider asking the provider to show ID at the door
Cerca Verified providers have completed an ID check. Look for the ✓ badge on their profile
Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong before the appointment, you can cancel.
Reporting safety concerns
Use the Report button inside the app on any profile, message, or booking. For urgent safety concerns:
Immediate danger: call 911 or your local emergency number
Harassment or threats: report@app-cerca.com. We prioritize these within 2 hours
Suspected fraud or scam: security@app-cerca.com
Deleting your account
You can delete your Cerca account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete My Account. Your account is scheduled for deletion 30 days from the request, giving you time to cancel if you change your mind. Within those 30 days, contact support@app-cerca.com to stop the deletion.
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, services, portfolio, and message history. This cannot be undone after the 30-day grace period.
